These Boots Are Made For Walkin’

I’m just a girl who can’t say no. So my dream lover had me at hello. What’s love got to do with it, you may ask. Well, listen, do you want to know a secret? Love’s a many splendoured thing. And a must to avoid.  But I slipped, I stumbled, I fell. I thought he was my guy until Sally told me he was under the bridge with the other woman. I don’t look back in anger though.  While I did have to become the funny girl when he told me these boots are made for walkin’, I will survive.

  1. Dear Jilly,

Your story took me from ear worm to shining ear worm. So please lock me away and here I’ll stay in the sounds of silence. Because we all know that I am a rock, I am an island. Okay, for now I’ll let it be and say fun and lyrical writing.

  2. I know how you feel. I want someone to want want me. All you need is love. But it’s been a hard days night and I was left high and dry… Sorry, got carried away 😉 I don’t know if I got all of the references, but I got enough of them to make it funny.

    1. Thank you! If you change your mind, Dale, I’ll be delighted to have them (refrain ha ha, got it). Matter fact “if you should change your mind” sounds like a song but I think I’m getting it confused with “If You Could Read My Mind”.

    1. Ah, one of my favourite songs. I watch the film clip with Bob Hope and I never get tired of the moment when he sings he got high as a steeple and she says “Did you?” Perfect for incurable romantics. Thank you for your lovely comment, Sandra.

  3. I started bobbing my head and shaking my shoulders the moment I read the title. Ah, the things that can happen under a bridge. The ending was fantastic. No just because it fits so well (pun probably intended), but also because it makes one wonder what sort of hints this walker might’ve given during the relationship.

P.S. I will ready my dancing boots, just in case your last words are any indication that your next story might include Gloria Gaynor, Hermes House Band, or CAKE (my favorite version). 😀 👢

  4. Great to get your comments, Magaly, made me smile – and I’m already looking forward to writing my next story so I can find out what it’s about 🙂 Take care of yourself, best of wishes, Jilly.

  5. Brilliant response from you, thank you – so witty and you chose two of my all-time favourites. Downloading Joan Jett now and Somebody That I Used to Know will be next. It was my favourite song in 2012 – and the video is so imaginative.
